Watford Ladies FC and Queens’ School are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the all-female Dual Track Football Academy and 16-19 Education Programme for September 2022.
Watford Ladies FC has been producing female football players for over 50 years, and in 2020 also took charge of the Brunel University Women’s 1st Team. The club is really looking forward to its 50th Anniversary celebration later this year which also marks 100 years since the FA banned women’s football.
More recently Watford Ladies FC has added an enhanced focus on education as a key aspect of building player’s knowledge, skill and professionalism. At the same time, the need for a solid educational grounding outside of football is still important, even for professional female footballers playing at the highest levels, due to the continuing gender pay gap with their male counterparts.
Queens’ School has one of the largest and most successful Sixth Form programmes in Southern Hertfordshire / North London and is growing its reputation as a centre of excellence for sport while still ensuring excellent academic outcomes.
Watford Ladies FC already runs an outstanding evening football programme for girls from under 9 years to women’s open age teams playing in the FA Women’s Pyramid. With over 250 players across two divisions, its Academy Division caters for players looking to push their football to professional levels while the Development Division caters for those who want to have football as a competitive recreational activity.
